A new hat for Nelson

POSTED 30 July 2012

I was delighted to read in todays Evening Standard (30/07/12) of a project which links two on my passions, hats and London! They say...

"In a dual celebration of the capital’s heritage and its world-beating milliners, 20 statues have had headwear specially created for them by 21 top designers, including Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones.

The project, called Hatwalk, was sparked by Mayor Boris Johnson musing on how to encourage the public to look up and learn about the dozens of sculptures of famous figures in the capital.

And after 18 months of planning, bespoke hats were placed overnight on statues including William Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Queen Victoria and the Duke of Wellington.... and Nelson on his column"

I hope my London readers will, like me, be exploring these new additions to the London landscape over the coming week!
