London Craft Week at Fortnum & Mason
It was one of the busiest weeks for us at London craft week however defiantly the most rewarding. We were lucky enough to be picked by crafted to exhibit at Fortnum and Mason during London craft week as well as attending the launch night at the V&A with the like of Grayson Perry, Kirsty Allsop, Tom Dixon, Mark Hix, Rupert Sanderson and Edmund de Waal.
We were very proud to exhibit our Katherine Elizabeth Millinery Spring/ Summer collection and the perfect opportunity for us to showcase our hard work and beautifully constructed, handmade, luxury headpieces. We take pride in the craftwork we do at Katherine Elizabeth Millinery and it is always a pleasure to exhibit our work.
Craft has always played a huge part in our work and it was highlighted that craft is all about creative bespoke luxury items by hand using age-old skills. Grayson Perry gave an amazing speech on the skills, inspiration and the true meaning of craftsmanship, He stated “It is a place where we connect with the materials all around us”. It is an exclusive way to create one of kind, unique pieces and within out where would be today? “Craftsman working with their hands are relevant to modern life and encompass so many businesses from tailors and jewellers to cars manufacturers and joiners, ensuring that craft isn’t some sort of nostalgic thing”. A perfect speech by a true inspiration; Grayson Perry.
