Kyle Ho, Thi Phuong Nguyen and our new collection!

We love keeping you in the loop with all the wonderful things that happen here at Katherine Elizabeth Millinery. Since we last caught up, we’ve been busy designing and creating pieces for a multitude of projects. We’ve featured in a few editorials, worked with some brilliant designers, co-hosted a podcast episode and even ran some Millinery Challenges. We are so grateful to be working at the moment, and with a semblance of normality on everyone’s horizons, we can’t wait to open our doors to you once again.

So without further ado, here are some of the things we have been working on...

Last November, we spoke to HATalk e-magazine about all things millinery. The interview was featured in their December issue, which also included an exclusive Katherine Elizabeth tutorial on how to make a pleated sinamay headpiece!

December saw another wonderful Millinery Challenge take place and as a special Christmas gift to all our milliners out there, the ‘Christmas Sparkles’ event was a free week-long challenge. What a wonderful end to the year.

We certainly had an action-packed start to 2021, kicking off January with a feature in Blurred Magazine. Later that month, we were thrilled to announce that our modern headpiece designed for Kyle Ho’s AW20 collection appeared in the January editiorial of Pap Magazine.

We were also thrilled to be featured in the January edition of Your London Wedding, where Katherine shared some top bridal tips. It seems as though January took on a bit of a wedding theme, as Katherine also spent this month creating some gorgeous bridal headpieces, with some stunning beaded fabrics added to the training bundle for our Millinery & Business Academy. February was another busy month for us, starting with a fabulous futuristic feature in Noctis Magazine’s Life After Earth Editorial. The stunning shoot showcased our ‘Raven’ headpiece, available in our Modernism Collection. We also worked with the brilliant designer, Thi Phuong Thao Nguyen to create a stunning hat for her new collection in Découper Autumn Winter 2021. The hat incorporated layering and folds with an oversized design to bring her collection to life.

This month we called on all milliners for another Millinery Challenge - we were delighted to see another great turnout. If you are interested in getting involved in future events, join our exclusive Facebook group ‘Inspiring Creative Milliners’.

Ending February on a high, we spoke to the lovely Kate on her podcast ‘Work, Actually’. Here, Katherine discussed life as an award-winning milliner, the trials and tribulations of setting up her own business and also her millinery academy. Pop over to Kate’s Instagram page @workactuallypod and give the episode a listen!

In more recent news, our workshops featured in South West London Magazine for their ‘Mother’s Day Lockdown Activities' piece. It’s lovely to see our academy workshops and challenges recognised as fun, immersive experiences for mothers and daughters alike!

Currently, we are working on several bespoke pieces, whilst continuing to collaborate with designers, including the talented Kyle Ho. For our latest collection, we are exploring how nature is taking back the city during Covid. So watch this space, there’s lots of exciting things to come...

The past few months have truly been a whirlwind and it seems as though, with life slowly returning to ‘normal’, it’s only going to get busier. Yes, this may be a little overwhelming at times after a somewhat sleepy 2020, but the truth is, we wouldn’t want it any other way…
